The cardboard won't fill the 'cracks' or different 'planes' of the mag. The stencil I used to cut the tape with... It was a 'tracer' of sorts...

Mac. Seriously quit bloody posting if you don't want critique. I am sick and tired of people saying "I don't care" when people make valid criticisms. Either take the criticisms like a man, or delete your posts, because all it does is create animosity here on the forums.

I don't personally like the stencils either, they looks extremely amateurish and just scream "I don't care."

Get your shit together and either fix them, or quit posting responses to valid critiques, especially when they tell you way in which you could make them better.

Quality isn't expensive. It's Priceless.

and they make really thin double sided tape that you can use to attach stencils too.

Yo, Big Tex, I didn't say I didn't want criticism.... But flaming and drama, I'd like to steer away from. I've already accepted what A4 AND ASSASSIN have said, and asked what I'm doing 'wrong' and how to 'fix' it. So my question to you is, why post something that has been resolved already? o.0 Unless it's just to start drama and flame?

Well, If you can use the wax paper in conjunction with the double sided tape, (Assuming it sticks) the stencil won't slide.

The masking tape is ok if you double it up, and then dont get paint on the edges, but I feel like it absorbs. I never get a clean edge with the masking tape.

I'll have to try that once I sand down the mags A4.

I do beleive you are right about the absorbing... cuz the paint DEFINATELY seeped underneath the tape...

Yeah, I only criticize to help you improve the look. Great idea, I just know you can do better.

Try misting layers, it takes some time, but it will look right.

Misting will deff help the "bleading" through under the tape.

Something else to consider. They do make stenciling ink in spray cans. Heres a link Link

Better than using spray paint.

Ok where what you should do.
1: sand off the old paint or sandblast it

2: clean the metal with a precleano (dirt and grease remover)

3: paint the mags black make sure not to make it run, use more than one coat and make sure to use the same spray pattern (left to right, right to left, ect)

4: allow the paint to dry, 15 mins will not be enough. use 24hrs

5: get some frisket film or masking film (its made by iwata and it cheap). http://www.iwata-medea.com/index.php/artool/frisket_film/

6: cut out ur skull with that by laying the film out and putting the skull over it and cut it out(tape it if u have to). DO NOT CUT IT OUT ON UR MAGS, u will have lines where them metal was scratched.

7: lay your design out on your mag then repeat step 2 next put on the film, make sure not to have any bubbles.

8: mist on the red once, let it dry for a little bit 15-25mins, then mist it on again. repeat untill it if fully covered.

9: let dry (24hrs)

10: then SLOWLY peal off the film try no to rip it cause it can be used again. if you rip it or its not tacky enough to reuse, make a new one.

11: move on to the next mag.

Yes this is a LONG process but its doing this kind of stuff is 95% prep and 5% spraying. If you want it to look good, do it right. If you want another airbrush I have a siphon fed one Id be willing to sell you.

anything that makes MAC stand out is good by me (as long as im not on his team)

its a total mac look and for that reason alone, i like it. i will enjoy shooting it even more.
