Welcome to AMP.

Out of all of your billion guns, what one is your favorite?

All the Jeeps yours, or just ones you've owned?

I have a lot of opinions on airsoft, here are some of my stances on things and I apologize if this seems preachy!

On safety: The way I see it, we spend hundreds if not thousands on replicas and loadout. Do NOT skimp on safety, refuse to play with anyone that does. I only recommend full seal ANSI impact rated eye protection, eyes do not readily heal and they don't grow back, protect your eyes.

I only play on licenses and insured fields, do NOT threaten your life or my hobby with back yard airsoft. Airsoft in the public eye will be treated as the fire arm it represents by the public and law enforcement, oh and if they see it, it is in the public eye!

Most of my replicas are bought with a role in mind. I have a "problem" pick what replica I want to carry sometimes though. I have some real opinions now, they all see a lot of use, and when I review a replica it is always over a long period of time. This is the only way that a reader knows that the review is more than a first impression. I keep track of BBs run through and cost and compatibility of repairs. I am however not sure that the reviews I have done are NOT real close to the pattern that is put forth here, I will look into it, or should I just post them and let the editor make the necessary changes?

I am of the opinion that high velocity is NOT the measure of a good replica or a good goal for most players. I think that the only reason to shoot at 400fps with .20 gram BBs is to have the capability to shoot .25 gram BBs at average 350fps. Nor do I believe that the average player should be shooting at 400fps. I think velocity rules should me driven by role. New players should be in my opinion be limited to fairly low velocity until they can judge MED for safety. One of the biggest advantages airsoft has over milsim paintball (which I also do) is the ability to govern velocity to role. In paintball EVERYBODY shot 280fps with a .68 cal paintball period, so there IS no advantage to role. With airsoft a bolt action sniper rifle can exceed the allowable velocity of a AEG (with the rule I play with) This allows the sniper role to have a range and accuracy advantage at cost of the Minimum engagement distances. I recently got to play on a army MOUT training range, this game had magazine capacity limits and role limits per team. (one sniper per 16 player one SAW per 8 players) Talk about making a SAW gunner role important!

I have never been dis-satisfied with any of my TM replicas. I have heard that complaints the "they are over priced, clones have better performance, or that they don't take upgrades as well or they are plastic" Especially recently. Let me go on record, if you are new to airsoft, you can NOT go wrong with a TM replica, they will out last EVERYTHING else on the market if the gearbox is left alone. If money is a object or you are not planning on playing regularly then a MPEG clone may be a option. If you have some experience a MPEG clone or a "troublesome" High end replica may be a good option. If this makes me a TM fanboy, the so be it, I am willing to support this stance. It is still true, you get what you pay for in airsoft, as it was when I started in this hobby 9 years ago.

That said, My favorite roles on the field is supporting roles, of sniper, (forward observer sneaky ninja guy) or more recently that of Squad (or platoon) automatic weapon. These are not inexpensive roles, especially with the rules that govern play with c3airsoft. Upgrades are as dependent on role as they are replica. Identify the role and the replica and the upgrades will follow.

CQB roles: Tight high rate of fire replicas, low velocities
I use a Echo1 ECHO1 mp5a4, this has a sytema high speed gear, 8mm ball bearings, bearing spring guide, M90 or M110 spring and a high speed motor, I use a 3800Mah 9.6 volt stick battery with it

SAW gunner: not necessarily high ROF or high velocity but the goal should be bomb proof reliability with long sustained fire. I really like the STAR M60E4, it is easier to handle than my M249(s), and lighter than the regular M60 but the box mag sucks on a new level of bad, even the ARES box mag is not much better. I rate the STAR M60 box mag as "super 9 bad", the ultimate insult to airsoft" On of the biggest advantages to the STAR M60 gear boxes is the two position spring guide, this allows the replica to have two velocities with the same spring position on with a M150 is 350fps with .20 position 2 is 380fps with .20s, if only it would feed!

Sniper: High accuracy with a great deal of consistence, higher velocity to propel a heavier BB, My primary VSR as a great deal of upgrades, so much so it deserves a thread into it self.

DMR: high accuracy with a great deal of consistency a medium to high velocity, This is NOT cheap in a AEG, I like a M14 in this role.

Trooper, moderate velocity and average accuracy, great for learning, make the specialist roles special. Pick what you like, use it and enjoy, nothing special here, and that is fine into it self.

HAZMAT FIRE
The fire ball is from a remediation I did with a hazardous materials contractor I used to work for until recently, The clean up took months, we found drums 2 miles away from the scene, probably one of the coolest scenes of that year.

Here are two you tube links on the fire:

Jeeps
All of the jeeps are mine, and yes they all are still around killing grass. At first I just has the 1981 Cj8 (blue) but was in a bad accident with it, a Club I used to belong to found the 1982 CJ8 for sale and I bought it. I though that between the two I could make one good one, I ended up with two fair ones. Then I was offered the 1946 CJ2a for $500, could not refused that.
The 2005 LJ Rubicon is my daily driver because even owning three CJ I could not trust one of the to run.

Well, We are grateful to have you here with us on Amp.

You have a lot of very beneficial information that can really add to this community.

Your collection is simply amazing, and I agree with almost everything in your last post. Amp's views are mostly the same you will learn. My goggles cost more than some of my guns.

The chemical fire looks intense; not a usual "Night to remember", but most definitely, a night to remember.

I'm a Dodge guy, I don't have a lifted truck, but LOVE driving off road.... Any and all chances I get.
